Complete Basket Case

OK, I know its normal but oh my god, I am turning into a comlete basket case!!!!!! Went from one extreme to the other yesterday, stressed to the max, high as a kite, and finally lots of tears. Shippers are here, everything is packed and the container is arriving in approx 3 hours.

In the end Doree Bonner came back to me and offered to do the job for £3300 after the original f*** up. I decided to go with them purely because of their reputation on here as in the end they were not the cheapest, but felt the reviews on here are 95% positive which does alleviate a little of your worry and at a time like this any less stress can only be a good thing!!!! The manager at the edinburgh branch has been really helpful although thought he was trying to give me a nervous breakdown on Tuesday when he told me that the container would not be able to come on Friday after all as its a bank holiday. and all my stuff would be taken to their depot until Tuesday then put on a container...........noooooooo you hear me shout, but after a bit of wrangling it was all worked out and as I said earlier the container is now coming this afternoon.

All credit to the 3 guys who were and are still here, they have been great. Really nice guys, very friendly and down to earth and have worked like little trojans the whole time. Will let you all know how things turn out at the other end, but I have to say that they could not have been more helpful or worked any harder or faster.

I have to be honest and say that most of the time this doesnt actually feel real. I cannot remember the last time I had a conversation about anything other than moving to Oz, so goodness knows what we're going to talk about once we've actually moved!!!!! Doesnt matter though, talking about shipping your furniture, when you fly or when the wee one is going, and even seeing all your worldy goods wrapped and ready to go, it still doesnt feel real 99% of the time.................and then it all of a sudden hits you and this huge array of emotions overwhelm you.

Anyway 3 weeks on Sunday until we fly, anyone else flying to Perth from Glasgow on 29th April? We're not actually going to Perth now, but flying on to Adelaide the day after we land but had already booked our flights to Perth before we changed our mind about where to go. Good luck to all who are nearing the big day and wishing you all the best in your new life down under.

You'll soon be here now. Just take everything one step at a time and try not to get too overwhelmed with it all.

Give me a shout when you arrive and we'll meet somewhere.

Hi Nikki so much of your post could have been written by me. We like you are on count down. Shippers come 16th & 17th, we move out of the house on the 19th and fly on the 26th April. I still at times feel this is ever so slightly unreal. My last day at work is next Monday and after 28 years not really looking forward to that. I think by this stage it is all the upsetting stuff we have left to do, pack, goodbyes etc and I just want to be on the plane. Maybe that is when it will feel real.
All the best with your move.

Hi Donna

You are so right, it is all the upsetting stuff at this point, all the stuff that you try to block out until you can't ignore it any longer!!!! My last day at work is the 20th which unlike yourself I am very much looking forward to, we move out of the house on the 22nd and fly on the 29th. I sometimes get so excited about it and then at other times get really worried about things like, what if I struggle to find work, what if I dont make any new friends etc etc.

Dreading saying the goodbyes and have put them all off until the week before we leave and definately not having a party. I'm like you and hoping once I'm on the plane everything will feel right and all the stress will magically disappear although not holding my breath about that one as think there is plenty to stress about at the other end!!!

Looking forward to meeting Wendy and Dorothy though as they've been really nice and ever so helpful, so looking forward to meeting them in person and buying them a drink or two to say thanks. JKA says I shouldn't struggle to make friends as I can talk for Scotland, so here's hoping!!!

Good luck for your big move, hope everything goes smoothly for you and your new life down under is everything you're hoping for.

Nikki
