I buy loads of short sleeve casual shirts from M&S - GBPeso12-25, they fit well and last for years.

Either that or I am an odd sized person.............

No, you're dead right.

So much Chinese goods are cr#p, and their clothes are no different: no crotch so your pants always feel as if they're coming down, tiny sleeves under the shoulder so you feel constricted and so on. And the colours...........

Just to agree with popular sentiment, I don't buy from M&S but I do go elsewhere.

There is no way you could buy a shirt with a double cuff that gets you across the line from Target. But many people are happy to buy single cuff shirts.

I wonder if perhaps my life is too easy!

The problem is not Chinese clothes, the fault lies with the factory - and you get what you pay for.
I do wonder though that whilst there is still scope for more cost savings - eventually the consumer will be so obsessed with price that they will
get nothing after all.

I would be prepared to pay a premium for the standard I can find now - but eventually that standard will be cut.

Everything is made in China now.

Not strictly true, most of my clothing is sourced from the sub-continent, the best fitting to be from Bangladesh, on a trip to Hungary a couple of years ago most of the clothing was Made in Germany, got a nice pair of spring trues there, jolly good they are as well.
In Italy last year most of the gear was sourced from.......errrrrrrrrrr........ Italy.
Similarly most kit from the USA, not all by any means, is Made in the USA. Same with Turkey.

Agree entirely, I refuse to buy Made in China as much as I can, so bloody uncomfortable.

Nearly all my clothes are M&S I don't know how many are made in China. I'm wearing a lovely double cuff lilac work shirt, made in Bangladesh and my nice linen shirt is made in Morocco. I still think M&S is great.

That's because it is. :)

Was actually going to say that it's not all China -there are other places in Asia and indeed elsewhere, thrown in the mix but the reality much of it's all off-shore where once it was even in the UK - all in the name of cost.

I have a pair of leather-soled shoes I wear to weddings I bought 21 years ago - for about 60 squid from what was then I believe John Lewis...(I make no apology).

They have "Made in England" in them. Not sure if Loake etc are still made in the UK - probably - perhaps given the tradition - but certainly shirts that were sort of in Jermyn Street are being sent offshore.

If it's M&S then it's not UK, and any country in Asia surely. It's just that M&S choose a good place. I wonder where they will be in 10 years as people insist on cheaper and cheaper - I would rather pay a premium and add on inflation each year than see a race to the bottom.

Do we need to start a BE double cuff secret society?

Dollar Tree? not quite a retail "giant" Most all of their stuff is made for the lowest value shopper.
