Company directors

Can anyone tell me if there is a way to find the names of company directors for free? I have the ABN and ACN numbers.

Try Australian Securities and Investment Commission - Register

As far as I know, that is the only place you will find them. If it is that important, you may have to approach ASIC for advice on how to proceed.

I always thought that the names and addresses of public company directors are a matter of public record and should be available to everyone. Many directors do give their office as their address, I often wondered if this is legal.

That just sounds sensible to me (giving their office address) - I wouldn't like my home address available to just anyone, there are nutters everywhere!

e.g. You are director of a company which has to retrench a lot of employees or you are director of a company which (legally) tests cosmetics on animals - home address freely available? I don't think so.;)

On the other hand you should be able to find out the names of directors if not their home address.

Yes, I agree with that.

I did suggest that the OP contact ASIC themselves directly to enquire how to find out the information they seek, as they claim they cannot access the ASIC's Register online.
