Re: Comfortably numb......
Thats he way we used to live then, I could fly on the cockpit jumpseat when he first qualified so I did a few 'there and back' turnarounds, no going through security etc, but all pre 9/11. Not as easy now as I have to be ticketed and in a proper seat etc, but its worth a try.
All I need now is to get to Edinburgh and hope there is a bar showing the Leeds game Fingers crossed the return flight later works

Re: Comfortably numb......
Rather lovely to be meeting old friends and seeing old haunts, its good for the soul!
Departing Heathrow was hilarious, I had been texting my mate, as he was about to fly to Glasgow and back before joining me in Edinburgh. So both phones off, him in a cockpit from T5, me paxing from T1 with Aer Lingus/Virgin.
As we started the takeoff run there was a BA plane waiting at the hold to take off next, with the pilot clearly visible waving both hands around madly.
When I turned the phone on again here he sent a text from Glasgow saying it was him, took off right behind me Them 10 minutes early, us 3/4 hour late!

While posing for this pic next to a pint of Abbot'sConfessions, a lovely Scottish lady at the next table said she thinks Brian is so lovely she wants to have his babies
Certainly a good way to meet people!
(sorry its sideways! ipad issues!)

Re: Comfortably numb......
Off to an award's dinner tonight with work
Have to be ready to leave at 5.30. Kids swimming lessons don't finish until 4.30. Its a cocktail dress event. Could I break a record by getting ready in around 30 mins? Either way, we're cracking open the champers
