Have faith, in a few years time they will just vanish to their rooms emerging only to drop hints about needing new boots, scooters, football shirts, concert tickets, books, cds.........my wallet is in meltdown

The boots are fab, the 11 year old talked me into getting them, they're genuine DMs from some little backstreet shop in Bristol, we were only supposed to be kitting out the skint student nephew but I fell in love with these

I was never that bothered about them before, then I saw these
I did intend to buy boots on this trip, I'm just calmly ignoring the fact I bought my "Wolverine Worry Free" hush puppies the previous day as well
The shop is brilliant, she reckons they have about 300 different DMs in stock. Delivery to Aus £20 on top of the price of the boots.

My sister said she's going to get Chloe some red DMs for her birthday.

I never had any growing up. I had such skinny, skinny legs that I thought they looked a bit silly - big clown, clod hopping feet.

Littlest niece has really long skinny legs (lucky cow!) and ahe was really taken with the long boots, got to wait till her feet stop growing but then she'll look fab in them!

Chloe's feet are already a UK size 5 and she's only 11. I'm just a wee size 4 with skinny feet too. Sometimes I can even get a size 3.

And whilst you lovely ladies are on-line let me ask your opinions on this:

Chloe had a very thorough medical at the hospital the other day in "sport medicine" because of the basketball association she plays for.

She told the Dr she has a lot of backache. Dr said she has a light scoliosis and could probably benefit from a few sessions with an orthopaedic, a decent chair and some stretching exercises at home.
She did say it was very slight and some of the backache could be due to adolescent puberty hormones.

However, I do know that the classroom chairs are shite. Schools are very basic here and the furniture doesn't look like it's been updated in 40 or more years. She is a tall girl for her age at 1.59m and the backs of the school chairs are hard wood and very low.

So, wanting to know if the school would be open to Chloe having a slightly higher backed and more ergonomic chair, I rang them.

They seemed a bit wary at first until I said "look I wouldn't be bringing in a big armchair or a chair on wheels for all the kids to play on and mess about with - just a simple chair that fits in with the classroom but has a higher back that would offer Chloe more support and stop her from crouching and slouching over the desk which is the worst thing for her."

- Ah Signora, so YOU intend to provide the chair?

"Yes."

- Ah beh, I thought you were asking if the school had any provisions in place for this kind of thing.

"No, I'll provide a chair but obviously I wanted to check with the school first in case you think it will set off every kid bringing their own special and personal chair into school."

- I can't forsee any problems with that at all Signora but leave me your number and I'll check with the head and call you back later.

Chloe could carry on as she is, but if you were given the option of providing a better chair for your child at school would you do it? Do you think it might cause classroom rivalry or make her the brunt of twisted spine jokes or stuff like that? She gets on very well with all of her classmates bar two idiotic boys.
