shepherds pie - stew and dumplings - steak and kidney pudding with mash potato.............. oh the list could go on and on. food that feels like a blanket (that's probably because it gives you a blanket of fat!!!)

A chip buttie made with homemade chips and pickled onion vinegar on thick, heavily Lurpacked white bread....Heaven.

Another one that is a definite and which I miss here big time is Smoked Fish Pie with a creamy mashed potato top and covered with cheese.
You get very little smoked fish here , except for salmon, trout and occasionally smoked cod but it comes from South Africa and is BRIGHT orange!! |

Oh yes, really fat, long home made chips, all salty and buttery, in really cheap white bread. Nigel Slater talks about that in a recipe book I have of his... esp the licking of the salty, buttery fingers afterwards. Is anyone's mouth watering? :o |
