I'm not sure that east & west were ever good friends.... but I wouldn't say it is the cold war again. This is something new. Perhaps we will call it The Nuclear War, or The War to End all Wars. Or maybe we won't call it anything because there will be noone left....

Not long as Hilary etc. or gearing up think it's next year possibly without googling.

Just as Gordon Brown wants to cut 2 Tornado squadrons to save money. The once might RAF is down to 15 fast-jet squadrons and he wants to reduce it 13. Pure madness.

Ah, those were the days. Look at that Bear D!

I loved the cold war - it was such a great period of history. It's almost like Vladimir Putin has re-built the USSR and nobody has noticed. But the Americans aren't entirely blameless. They have been so insistent that they be allowed to station tactical theatre missiles in Turkey, I can understand why the Russians are peeved.

The US says it's all part of the war on terrorism, but I don't see that wearing myself. When did anybody ever use strategic missiles against terrorist cells? Though it's unlikely to happen in the near future owing to the US deciding to recognise the Turkish-Armenian genocide as just that, I think the Russians are probably right to feel a little threatened.

Interesting times lie ahead...

Yeah, the Bear is a beautiful aircraft, last of a generation, it really needed to get into a shot with the RAF's latest intercepter.

I didnt like the cold war so much, growing up within site of a nuclear dockyard led to a lot of sleepless nights as a child

The labour gov. has decimated the armed forces over there. Blair/Brown have made the military fight their little wars, 'police actions' and 3rd world peace keeping missions so that they can look good on the world stage and appeal to their left-wing crowd. But they have cut the military to the bone, requiring them to do more and more with less and less. At the same time they have squandered billions on NHS mis-mangement, unchecked welfare payments and unrestricted 3rd world immigration.

They should hang their heads in shame for what they've done to a once great military.

On the "bright side" at least our economy is safe for a while. Someone's got to supply the radioactive materials for missiles.

It's ok tho, we're proudly Australian owned and nuclear free
