In my wee town we used to have Willie Lows (remember them!?), then it became a Tesco, then Tesco left town (must be bad if Tesco pulls out!) and it became the Co-op...or as they call it where I come fae, the 'Copey'. :D

A trip to Wales was not a trip to Wales until you'd popped into a Spar.
Nothing like waking up on a cold morning in the passenger seat of a car and seeing the red and white to know you'd crossed the border. |

Growing up I always liked the Co-op, a supermarket with a conscience. I remember they were selling fairtrade chocolate and coffee, and biodegradable plastics bags years before the rest of its competitors. Does anyone else have similar fond memories? |
