Quote of the games from ch4 on the closing ceremony " like the opening ceremony you are left with a feeling of what the hell does it all mean"

Well done to Australia, they have certainly done well and must have the most money to splurge on sports when the vast majority of people from the other commonwealth countries probably don't know where their next meal is coming from so flailing a ribbon about in rhythmic gymnastics is probably not on the top of their list of priorities...

Last night I watched Ice Age, got some pizza and then watched Dr Dolittle 2.
I really couldn't care less about the Games but it's a real indictment of Australian insecurity when such a fantastic performance by them becomes a reason to have a go at UK rather than a reason to celebrate their own capabilities. When will Australia realise that most Brits couldn't care less what Australia thinks about them and couldn't care less if they're a Republic or not.

So much time and energy is wasted by Australians knocking the British when the only time most British people think about Australia is when the Ashes is on.

Beleive it or not he really means it.

It's going to be very interesting come June, to see what the TV ratings are, with the World cup Football, shown at very unsocial hours V the local Aussie rules competition.

I for one can't pick which one will have more. I suspect the World Cup though.

Couldn't agree more. The anti England stuff started during the Opening Ceremony and just set the tone for me.

Still, it's only 74 days until The World Cup . Just have to tune out the Aussie Rules nonsense in between and then just sit back and enjoy my favourite sporting event, with 2 teams to support (I will be "helping" my daughter support Australia). In fact, it is a good year for sport as the Ryder Cup is on this year as well.

Got the Grand prix later this week, at least thats on the world stage

Yehp great having two teams to support.

Also there is a freindly game between Australia and Greece coming up in May, at the G, with the amount of Greeks in this town, could see a bigger crowd than at the Opening and closing ceremonies.

Trouble is I vowed after the last boring freindly that I'd never go to a freindly game again. Man utd v Aussie, god it was boring.

Pity Aussie isn't playing England, in a freindly, cos they never are

I didnt watch that much of it, but what i did watch i enjoyed. The all aussieness of it all didn't bug me nearly as much as sitting in Scotland watching where all you ever got was how well England were doing and not a mention of the Scot who was in the same race

Roll on Thursday, if it doesnt come quickly my kids will explode :scared:
