The last time I brought this up I was slaughtered by a certain clique on here and they tried to make it look like I was the one in the wrong

Of course it could be deemed cliquey amongst a small group of people. There are probably a few different circles of people who have become friends over the years on any forum, including this.
But then the same applies to any situation, be it electronic forums, gatherings of school mums, blokes at work. It's the way social order in humans works imo.
At least primate troupes are more front up about it, albeit more hairy in most cases
