Re: Changing your government
I'd say to the OP just give it time. The incoming PM , probably Truss , will quickly find the poison chalice of a position she has been handed. Perhaps an election inside a year? Who would want to be PM at this time? Probably best to hand it to Labour and hope the ensuing chaos (no fault of Labour) will ensure the likelihood of a Tory return in five years.

Re: Changing your government
It remains just too easy to tie you in knots, (doesn't take an intake of alcohol or other drugs to achieve that) I obviously appreciate your degree of consistency in error and flawed belief. At least you got over the Helmut obsession , but much else remains the same.

ETA - there are threads on 'Who will replace Boris', 'Tories in Chaos' and 'Labour on the Ropes', all related to UK politics, in Take It Outside / TIO

Think you've gone off at a tangent, and should go back and read the OP again - this thread was in relation to the new labour government elected here.

Differences I see:
1. The new would further like to milk the indigenous theme. Thankfully indigenous leaders and groups with half a brain are seeing through the mask.
2. The new Treasurer is out of his depth and doesn't have the CV to be in such a position. Hopefully he has a clever team behind him to guide him through and make the right decisions for him.

Sorry, can't contribute. Never come across it or anyone on it. I would suggest distancing yourself from it. Try moving to a nicer suburb or if that doesn't work move cities. Hope this helps.

Nothing special - it's this cleanskin Shiraz from Liquorland/First Choice:
https://www.firstchoiceliquor.com.au...B&gclsrc=aw.ds
$5.50 a bottle (less if you buy 6). It's a fantastic Shiraz, which gets great reviews and is an absolute bargain for the money
The single malt though was epic - an 18 year old Cardhu. I bought it about 10 years ago and only recently cracked it open. It's just perfect this time of year, on a cold and rainy night, feet up in front of the log burner, with The Clash on the stereo

Has the landscape actually changed in Australia? The people just replaced one pro-business government with another.

Not at all convinced any party has the necessarily statesmanship and integrity to be in charge .

Re: Changing your government
Funny heard that recently from someone involved (as I discovered later) Hard to imagine anyone never crossing it in one form or another. Very hard indeed. But while we know Sydney is full of it, Perth is the standout capital of the world in its consumption. Nice suburbs full of professionals are what is fanning it. You already are aware I live in a good suburb.

Unlike you, I can enjoy music without getting involved with the bullshit. I have the ability to separate the art from the politics. Strummer was an incredible artist and musician. The fact he was also a raging socialist is his issue and means sod all to me - different strokes for different folks in the great big melting pot of life
The music of my youth was all like this - working-class Brits raging against the world and the man. Great stuff
Do try and open your mind to the world that's not in your narrow-minded head

Ah right, I see why you have the blinkers on and assume whats going on in Perth is going on in the rest of Australia. https://www.abc.net.au/news/2022-06-...orld/101195020
