A few people I know are pilots for Cathay, like their fathers before them. I would fly without hesitation.

Flown with them to and from the UK a couple of times, lovely airline, polite staff, good food. No hesitation about flying them again :)

Well that's something to look forward to I guess. Feeling sick as pig right now, just want it all done with. A decent flight makes it a tad more bearable. I think. Possibly.

Advice from one who has been there and done it, especially for the sake of the girls of not yourself :)
If you can, make sure that your booking has a note on it about the reason for the flight - even if you ask at check-in - it can make life easier if you are stuck with any delays, baggage issues etc. An airline like Cathay will look after you. Just ask for a flag on all the bookings as "compassionate".
Also once on board make sure that whichever crew are looking after your area are aware. This is possibly more for the girls - if you fall asleep and they are upset, someone will look out for them. I travelled with BA and JAL when my Dad passed away and the crew were wonderfuil, concerned, offering extra drinks, coffee etc, and even offered to have a crew member with me during the flight transfers in Singapore & Tokyo. JAL did do an upgrade from Tokyo to brisbane as well on compassionate grounds.

Hope its not too traumatic <<hugs>>

Wasn't particularly impressed with the outward journey but they got us here so won't grumble too much as I have better things to grumble about. Not looking forward to the return flight though.

They were good. I swilled for Britain all the way to Aus and they never complained once, just kept it coming. I was in economy tho and it was very cramped leg wise

I flew with Cathay Pacific a few years ago and I have no complaints. Good clean plane and helpful friendly staff. I wouldn't hesitate in flying with them again.

They were ok. The check in staff and ticketing woman at Heathrow were fricking awesome. The check in woman at Brisbane was a bitch but I'm nice so I assume she was just having a bad day. However considering the price and availability at the time they did what it says on the tin. Freebie toothpaste and brush would have been nice though.
