Career Change
If you had the chance(current economic climate thingy aside) what would you like to do?
I am currently pondering/going through this phase(I need some Oz time to hopefully make things a little clearer). Was in electronic engineering for over a decade, before I left it behind. Don't think I could do the full study thing again, small courses though no probs. Have no real idea yet what my career change will be, looking for some inspiration. Am I dreaming that its possible to successfully do a complete career change? |

I am also doing an MBA so if it all goes wrong, at least I haven't wasted the time! What are your hobbies? |

All too risky and difficult when you have kids and a mortgage though. |
Re: Career Change
Our dreams always seem to be too big or impossible. How about starting something as a hobby, regardless if it doesnt make you money initally, just to get a taste of it. You could write your own music part time. Then get opinions of friends or people who are the industry. Absolutely no risk involved there.

Re: Career Change
I always fancied being a cop, but had a good job back in London so it was hard to give that up to change careers.
When I moved here I saw it as a chance for a career change so I went for it and now I'm a cop in Brisbane. And I love it. To the op, I say go for it (if you can work out what you want to do!). How old are you out of interest, not that it matters necessarily. |

Re: Career Change
I'm going to be changing my work arrangement so I work at 80% pay for the next 4 years and take the 5th year off with pay. I'm going to open a bakery with the added security of knowing that I have a wage coming in in case things with the business don't work.
I left home when I was really young and worked my way through school by bartending Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights and working as a baker during the early morning hours during the week. After a 20+ year career working in healthcare related jobs I'm looking to do something creative for the next few years. BB, find something you like to do and do it. If it doesn't work out you can go back to electronic engineering. |
