I don't think "BS Bill" has even mentioned privatising the ABC until the YL's did so they picked the fight, although he did say he would return the ABC's funding that was cut in the last budget.

They have a fair point though. We all pay for the ABC yet it has a political skew for one side only. So it's not a media outlet for all, even though all pay for it. You can understand why many at the conference (not all) want our tax dollars put towards some that works for all.

That is not mentioned in the article you posted, however that article does raise some other very interesting points about the ABC.

The good thing here is the Libs do have a broad selection of points of view. This means topics like this get raised. The Communications Minister Mitch Fifield mentioned some of the reviews that are taking place. All good in my opinion.

And when BS uses this (like he did with Mediscare) the Libs should pounce on him and show him up for the shallow moron he is.

The ABC had some excellent content but when it comes to politics, economics and society, their left-wing, anti-western, pro-socialist bias comes out. We shouldn't have to finance this. Saying that, the BBC is just as bad

So what alternative do you suggest we finance? Fox News? Sky News? Brietbart? A Murdoch controlled privatised ABC? Anything that puts the right wing agenda across? Something that has the reporting/investigative capability of Today Tonight or whatever the other one is called all in the name of ratings than quality? (Strangely can't think of any Left wing agenda TV News channels - RT TV (Russian controlled?))

If you find my comment in the linked article, I say it depends on your perspective. The YL's that proposed this idea are probably true blue conservative Liberals and so of course they are more likely to view anything to left of them with disdain. Someone who is far left, Union loving with a liking for communism would probably think the ABC is right wing. I seem to remember that when Rudd and Gillard were PM's, they were subjected to the same level of scrutiny as the current Government are by the ABC. Wasn't it the ABC that investigated and exposed the pink batts loft insulation saga? When I read or view any media source I like to think I can filter out any particular bias and make my own mind up. I 'd currently call myself a swing voter, but the way the Libs are carrying on (note: not what are Labor are doing/saying), I can feel which way my pendulum is swinging at the moment. I don't want any Government telling me what to think by a state owned entity - Left or Right. Just because they fund it doesn't mean they should control the output - we are paying for their independence from any Government control.
