Smile Buying goods from Dutyfree ????

i just want to know about duty free shops ? I'm flying from Sri Lanka to Melbourne (Transit of 2.5 hours in Singapore).

I'm thinking of buying a laptop and digital camera from Aus, but i feel if i buy it from dutyfree shop it will be bit cheap. So will i able to buy items from dutyfree shops ? If so from where in Singapore or Melbourne Dutyfree ? What is the basis of determining the limit of value we can buy from duty free shops ?

Thanx in advance.

Love to help, but I just don't know. I think people on here before have recommended buying in Singapore. Plus I'm not sure that Melbourne Duty Free n the way into the country has anything more than cigarettes and booze.

Hi muditha

Have a look at the above site. What you should do is research the exact make and model number of the camera / laptop you would like, get prices from a couple of australian shopping comparison sites like http://www.lasoo.com.au/ or http://www.getprice.com.au/. Then if you have time at the airport you can compare the model you are interested in with the Australian prices. There are lots of websites that do reviews of electronic equipment, you just need to 'make google your friend'!

You don't have a lot of time between your flights, and because you're not used to travelling, don't take a chance on missing your connection to Australia just to save a few dollars!!

cheers
shears
