Can't read the report online so will see if it's in todays hardcopy in the office.

Typical Govt, hide things away

I like the AFR - it seems to be the best of a bad bunch of Australian newspapers - Though its paywall is very annoying...

Ok so checked the article and it's referring to para 8.50 where the MOTS option is "suspended", but doesn't mention para 8.46 which explicitly states that the new boats will be "assembled", in Australia.

good old political weasel words

From what we have seen you certainly wouldnt be paying more here or less there. It is of course silly to compare 2 totally different situations. Of course you will pay more in London than you would in Adelaide, that is obvious but overall I cant see rents being cheaper in Australia for what you get.

The Aussie newspapers are increasingly going that way these days. Given their revenues for the printed product are down it's understandable but their pricing structure is too steep. The digital version should be around 50% of their news stand price. Better to have several customers paying something than none paying a lot.

Fairfax papers (e.g. The Age, SMH) have gone that way already for some overseas based readers, and will be too for Australian based visitors in the future. However, the way they're currently doing it means you can still read the article via the source code - you just have to scroll down a fair way until you get to it.

You should know better than rehashing Murdochs mouth piece. These shenanigans have gone on in every budget here I have known. Would love to know what Abbott will cut.

Have they raised the tax threshold for low earners? Currently $18,200.00.
