Yeah. I have it on my Surface 1st gen. Its actually OK as it does have full MS Office but zero exe and msi support which once or twice has been an issue.
What I am really after is a decent 10.1" tablet with an Intel processor that I can install a Linux distribution on, yet I just seem completely unable to source one. Nobody makes them. there are some that have restricted bootloaders etc, but nothing that seems suitable for running Ubuntu, which is a real shame. S |

I would have thought that one of the chinese tablets would have been quite up to that, say like the Aldi 10.1" Windows tablet that on sale on Saturday for $249

There's a couple of cheaper ones about, but the bootloader is often locked down, or the machine has no USB port to boot from. I'll check out the Aldi one though... S |
Re: Budget Laptop
I've read that Lenovo are deploying certificates to new pc's that allow htpps connections to be broken.
Lenovo might be the guys to avoid right now unless you are installing your own non bundled OS onto it. |

The daughter started Kalamunda High school today. We had to buy her a Microsoft Pro 3 computer. The cheapest model was about $1100 including the software. They didn't give us much choice because it had to run windows (rules out iMac), had to be a tablet that had a USB port (rules out iPads), have a stylus, minimum of 11" screen and 8 hours battery life.
Much cheaper than a Surface Pro 3! |

Is it possible to put Linux on a Samsung Galaxy 12.2" tablet? It doesn't have an intel chip AFAIK - it is just grossly overloaded with Samsung apps that I don't need or want - and which mostly have names I have no idea what they do anyway!

That is worrying but I just read that they have stopped installing Superfish so hopefully not a problem in future. I have a spare W8.1 licence if needed
