That sounds about right. A suit for work costs me around $1000 for the same quality of one for 200GBP.

Maybe we have been spoilt here in the UK?!
I thought OZ was a modern cosmopolitan country? Well the cities at least??

I thought we were called "Rip off Britain" for a reason?

Come on Guys I really need to hear some plus sides of living in OZ, lol.

Is the NHS really that much of a better system? Dont get me wrong I think it's fantastic as I have spent a fair time in Hopitals when I was younger (Car accident being one reason) I also now work in the NHS and have done for the last almost, 3 years. Although my personal opinion is that the NHS we know at the moment has it's days numbered.

Anyways enough of my ramblings, I am interested to know it what way the clothes are crap? Price, lack of choice lack of style etc etc.
Everyone in neighbours seems pretty well turned out!! lol

Dom

Not had any problems finding reasonably priced good quality clothing here. I have more clothes in my wardrobe (walk in) here than I ever did in the UK. Medicare have been brilliant IMO and I know we've had better service than the NHS would have given us.

Hope that helps. :)

You notice that MP has gone quiet? Do you think we have managed to finally freak MP out?

I have a black pair of Coast trousers that are my failsafe reserve outfit.

I'm waiting with baited breath myself ;) I don't mind witchery, though it is a little bland. Veronica Maine and Cue are good but mainly work clothes and at $250-$300 for a dress, it ain't cheap! Sportsgirl used to be ok but is now just tatty and overpriced. Wish does some ok stuff (can be found in Myer and David Jones).

Last time I went back to Blighty I could not get over how reasonable the prices were for clothes, the quality and the range - Zara, River Island, Top Shop, Next (though I'm not a huge fan), Oasis, Warehouse .... I could go on :(

I'm listening too. Would like to be pointed in the right direction. At the minute, I think my best bet is to buy online in UK and have someone ship stuff to me.

The NHS rocks!

I always err on the side on conservative for work clothes and go to David Lawrence mostly. When I look at the prices, I could kick myself for not shopping in Hobbs at home. It would have been cheaper and much better quality.

there is a store due to open at Bondi Junction in the next 2 & half years (http://www.theaustralian.news.com.au/story/0,25197,22375838-643,00.html

Obviously there are no guarantees on reasonable prices :sneaky:

I recon I must live in a different Australia to you lot! Never had a problem getting decent clothes at a reasonable price, service has usually been good, driving no different to anywhere else, health service good. Ofcourse I've lived here much longer than you and know my way about.:)

Yeah Nic's been on some of the UK clothes websites and we're gonna find out how to get some and sent over.

Me being a bloke I'm just not too bothered, but she is struggling with the clothes shops over here!

Hi,

You can buy clothes online and have them delivered direct to Australia from Top Shop, delivery is only £10 how ever much you buy. ASOS.com also deliver to Oz as do Schuh. Not sure if you can pay in Dollars as I still have my Uk accounts and use them.

I hope this might cheer a few people up.

Sarah.
