Brown to double UK airport departure tax...

"Gordon Brown's rise to power in Britain could spell trouble for Australian tourism, with likely tax hikes on long-haul flights from the UK, a conference has been told."

I never really liked Blair but Brown scares me. This is just the beginning. Wait till his hard-left agenda really gets in to full swing......

I'm in agreement there... I wonder how long it will be until another winter of discontent...

The thing I hate most about Brown is when he scrapped the tax free status of pension contributions. Damning an entire generation to poverty in their old age.

Agree. GBP5 billion extra he is taking. Yet people still voted for them. IMO one of the things that Australia is way ahead of the UK on is the pension system. The tax breaks that Costello has brought in are just too good to ignore. It will be interesting to see if the socialists under Rudd will keep them.

I also wonder how closely he's really going to stick to the principles of Blairism. I worry that it won't be long before we see a return to the bad old days of Labour where the trade unions end up running the country again.

We can hope that Scotland vote for independence, and leave him seatless in Westminster!

More importantly, what the **** is going on with his lower jaw when he talks? It's like it suddenly dislocates every now and then and drops a few inches.

Just an observation.

I think his jaw is connected to his back passage so he is really talking out of his a**e all the time.

I take very little notice of UK politics now - yes I know I should but one government is enough for any sane ;) person. Who's Chancellor of the Exchequer these days?
