They propped him up semi recline strapped him in with a buddy stool to chat to other passengers and a personal TV :eek: :D

In true british fashion other passengers acted as if nothing was going on.

My heart goes out to his poor wife, she was sitting on the buddy stool sobbing. Brings tears to my eyes just thinking about it. :(

I can understand how distressing it must have been to other passengers, or at the very least uncomfortable for them. Maybe they should have tried to rig up a privacy curtain of some sorts (as another poster suggested), so that the woman could have observed her grief in private (had she wanted).

Very sad occurence indeed.

I think its highly possible the situation was handled with a bit more refinement than we are reading, the OTT reporting is probably designed to conjure up all sorts of images, fairly common in the british tabloid.

I wonder why people are so weird about a dead guy being in the cabin. Someone could 'see his head' throughout the flight... Uh huh....
Is seeing a deceased person really so uncomfortable?

Sounds like they did their best for the poor old chap.

I would find it quite distressing sitting next to or seeing a dead person. I don't mean that in a way that I would be mad for them putting him there, I mean it would just upset me - someone had died, that's very sad and I'd probably sit there sobbing too!

Oh yes, I agree... I would be in floods too.
I just got the impression from the article that someone found it a bit distasteful... I don't get that bit.

I feel sorry for the wife... Fancy having your hub die and then you have to land in a foreign country, holiday happiness dashed, paperwork no doubt to be done, before having to go home. Soul destroying. :(

I don't really know what they expected the staff to do in the circumstances - I guess they could have laid him down and covered him completely, may have been a bit more respectful.

Oh how awful for the wife I agree - you just never know when your time is up do you :(

The things people will do to get an upgrade.

About the only thing I can think of is lying him across a blank set of seats, or seating him where they can draw those curtain partitions. Not much space on the floor of the a/c - health and safety.

He was in first class though - the seats recline fully don't they? They could have laid him down there rather than propping him up there.

Either way, it was a difficult situation.

Don't the air crew have sleeping quarters? I suppose it depends on the plane type, but if they do, wouldn't it have been more respectful to place him there.


But then again that might have meant carrying a dead body the full length of the plane to get to the sleeping quarters. And thereby upsetting everyone on the flight. It was probably much easier just to piss off the 1st class passengers.
