Re: British gas 35% Price hike.
I saw an article a few weeks ago complaining that the European gas/energy companies buy gas from the UK during summer during which the UK is a net exporter of gas and sell it back to the UK during the winter at a profit during winter during which the UK is a net importer of gas. Of course it degenerated into an anti eurpoe rant but the real story is that both France and Germany have huge gas storage (months worth) facilities and the UK typically has only storage for a couple of weeks. Another fine example of the UK being totally under prepared for just about anything.

A very good mate of mine is earning on average 2K / day saving large companies huge amounts of money on fuel. This is not including £600/day on the occasiional consultancy work and between 40 - 180k / year contract work for life. He tells me it's good money but the system is all in a very controlled mess. He plays the system legally and we r not affected by what he does - he possibly actually does us a favour in a strage sort of way. He drives an Astra and is a very much d2e Geordie bloke. But your right what is going on?

Just been listening to some Aussie radio on http://www.mix1023.com.au/ and the news item just said that oil prices have dropped overnight to the lowest levels since last May to $122 a barrel.
SO WHY IS BRITISH GAS PUTTING UP THE BLOODY PRICES:curse:
(rant over, breath deeply...........)

We used to pay 70 quid a month on gas 18 months ago. I dread to think what it would be now, probably double.
We used to rely quite a bit on open fires. Burn anything; wood, proper coal none of this smokeless stuff, bits of carpets, old tyres.
