I like to make friends at bbqs by saying the nicest part of Australia is New Zealand.

Only if I am unlucky. I find talking about sport and cars at bbqs tiresome.

Barbecues are pretty boring in my opinion. Standing around drinking foul beer and pretending to be interested in Bazza's lengthy account of the last AFL game.

You need to come to one of mine and meet my Aussie friends. We eat Rib fillet, drink fantastic wine and the conversation is never dull.

It's true. Best friends I have ever had. All extremely well educated, intelligent, well travelled and fun to be around. We all love our wine, and the wine here is amazing.

Gave up years ago on that ever so slightly bogan pursuit and it would appear little has changed.
Restaurants although standards vary ,do it better for us. A few friends,in surroundings having a slight degree of intimacy and a steady flow of conversation. Socially though find it very wanting and expect it will be a very important consideration to the reasons for finally bailing out.

But you must admit it is consistant.A generation and more ago the same rhetoric was being spewed out.

Wine here amazing?Perhaps if they held back on certain additives it may be even more so.
For my money the best wine wine comes from the Cape.(RSA)
