Traffic problems in Brisbane, no way, i believe it has the best road network in the world. Very free and easy moving.

No, but I do know the shortcuts that only people who actually live in the area know.

I wonder if it's because of the extra lane they've added in the last five years?

This is not something I really want to repeat in 35 degree heat and humidity while on the way to work. I am also very fair skinned and don't want to risk the skin cancer. Maybe overworrying but I've had a few friends in their 20s and 30s who have had large cancers cut out.

Additionally, I work in a corporate office that requires a high level of presentation. If I cycle, I have to iron my clothes when I get to work (and buy an iron), take my blow dryer and hair straightener and lug full make up in with me. I know that after say, a run on the treadmill, I can't put make up on for at least half an hour even after a shower as I am sweating so much and my hair sticks to me. I know this is an issue as my ex used to cycle and he found it really difficult with sweating and work clothes, even after a shower (despite this he continued to cycle until we broke up).

Given all of the above, cycling is just not feasible for me. Trust me, if I thought it was an option I'd do it.
Yep cycling in your situation is not an option You need to move

So I went to the press and got the story in the paper. A furore regarding revenue raising ensued and they haven't been seen there since. Funny that.
Still, it's cheaper than third party insurance. I'll bet one of the first things your ex did was to go out and buy a bell

It'd have to be rocket powered to get up the mountain i live on, trust me! I'll stick to broomsticks or walking, no point in having a bike to push it everywhere

(and don't suggest I learn to drive even if I could be bothered with the two/three year rigmarole here, my eyesight isn't good enough and they won't give me a licence )

Ah it occurred to me after I posted that you probably live on a mountain

I hadn't realised you don't drive. I thought all those times you spoke of riding round in a taxi you were just being posh

Here in Canberra (at least where I am) it's great - all flat except for the last few minutes home which is uphill but not drastically steep. Still a bit of a shame about the last hill though: A gentle ride on the flat complete with a cooling breeze rounded off by a hard and sweaty uphill pedal at the end . A cable lift would be perfect

The m/bike is at last being registered this week. Cant wait to ride it again so the bicycle's likely to see a lot of dust in the coming weeks

POSH!!!! ME!!!!

Never needed to drive back in Brighton, so I never learnt, then I had shingles really badly when I first arrived in Aus and my eyes have been dodgy ever since, and aren't reliable enough to get a licence. So its public transport, shanks pony, or a taxi when escorting drunken friends home or when its too hot or wet to walk up the mountain. Its not too bad coming up one side, but the other side is a killer, even Bernie used to say it was horrible, and he's a whole lot fitter than I could ever dream of being!
