I've often fancied one but am put off by the thought we would all end up the size of houses. A proper fresh loaf of bread, especially still warm with butter lasts about 30 seconds in our house

Me and OH have just had a barney about ours... he reckons that he knew it would just end up in the cupboard under-used! hmphf!

I am still awaiting a die-hard recipe that works!!! Have tried a few but it all ends up resembling a house brick!!!

Anyone???

True. We do that a lot on weekends for breakfast.

We rarely get that. The key is to get the ingredients exactly right.

We've used the wholegrain bread mix and it was really soft and yummy!
(well OH and daughter say so!)

I make bread for myself (considering allergies etc) using spelt flour with honey and seeds and the bread maker is invaluable!
I'd pay $6-8 for a small loaf by sol breads and it's no where near as nice

Was sort of hoping to go for more quality than quantity ie stop using supermarket and limit ourselves to what we make ourselves.

Perhaps it might also help that we control what goes into the bread? or is that being too naive on this bread making journey?

Has anyone tried making giant muffins? A french friend claims to do this but secretly I think he goes up to the local bakery before we wake up.

From memory cos I've done it so much :

half a pint of water
400 grams of white bread flower
1 teaspoon measure of quick action yeast
1 tablespoon measure of skimmed milk
1 tablespoon measure of white sugar
15 grams of butter
two thirds teaspoon measure of salt

PS KPorte.. mine was reduced in Aldi.. would have seemed rude not to buy... thats my story and Im sticking to it!
