Border security

Since all my trips to and from oz and dealing with all the visa issues, I've started watching shows like "border security" and "customs" and find them very interesting.

It's amazing to see the lengths people will go when trying to get into oz and also with smuggling in drugs.

Anybody else think the same?

No more so than any other country.

Border Security winds me up big time. Why can't they just tell one story and then move on to another one? What's with the leaving a story as it gets interesting, moving to another one and doing the same then going back to the first just to repeat everything they've just said? Actually I probably get more annoyed with the husband shouting at the TV "Yes, we already know that, get on with it"

What annoys me is the way they hype everything up.

For example "Doris who is 97 years old, has declared that she has no items to declare, however, it turns out she has a jar of jam in her bag. She is in serious trouble with customs. Although, this is an item allowed into Australia she will now have the jam confiscated, fined $2000 and go straight to hell".

They have to hype everything up. Real life is too mundane to make good television.

True, but once you have seen one episode of Border Security there is no need to watch another, they are all the same.

To be honest unless you have Foxtel and can fast forward through the adverts there is little point watching tv anyway.

I love Border Security! But you do sit there thinking "What a muppet!!"!

I can't believe that they think they won't get caught, AFTER they have pulled them to the side and started going through their bags! My favourite is the ones who bring food, and then argue with the customs officers - yeah, like that will change their minds!

I still quite like the show, though now its more a game for guessing what they've done.

Its quite easy, if they're an old asian couple, then they're smuggling food. If they're young, then drugs. If they're old and travelling alone, then illegal antiques or plant products. If they're from europe, illegal worker or drug smuggler. If they're from America, usually coming for an internet love matchup that never works out.

Thats the way they edit the programme, its not that I'm racist:p

It's just a lesson on how to make about 4 minutes of film footage stretch into a half-hour show.

Drives me demented..

The worst for doing that is Mythbusters.

So they've filled a cement truck up with a ton of high explosives, they've started the countdown, 3,2,1.. 'Now after the break does coca cola rot teeth.'

Then 10 minutes later, an entire recap of 'we've loaded this truck with a ton of explosives, 3,2,1' now does salsa disolves iron bars.

Just show me the truck exploding!!!!

OMG I do that - are we married?

What I enjoy is the OH who always reckons they're being picked on and says let them go - "they're obviously innocent" only to find they have enough Columbian marching powder up their jacksey to keep Ben Cousins happy.
