Bobby Keys RIP
Long time saxonophist with the Rolling Stones has died age 70.
He did not make the Australian leg of their recent tour due to illness so I did not get to see him play for the last time. We are all getting a bit older |
Re: Bobby Keys RIP
Sad news G, but I bet he's had hell of a life.
Yep we are all getting older Sherlock! :p We must try and make the most of life while we can. |
Re: Bobby Keys RIP
Yehp, a great life by the sounds, as the original rock era comes to a close with the departing of it's lynch pins, life starts to become less and less familiar.
I'm not sure whether I saw Bobby live or not, If I did it would have been with Eric Clapton or Cream maybe ? back in the early 70's. Thanks for the great music and the culture and atmosphere it created. |

Thanks for the great music and the culture and atmosphere it created. He started off playing with Buddy Holly and Dion plus many more greats. He once actually got kicked out of the Rolling Stones because his lifestyle was too excessive for them:lol::rofl: Not a good time for the Stones as Ian McLagan, who also played with them Has also just died |
Re: Bobby Keys RIP
Definitely saw Ian Mclagan, mostly because I used to be able to get into the Crystal Palace Garden Partys for free everytime as my Father worked at the Park.
Had a really good mate die unexpectedly two weeks back, fit bloke same age as me, and had almost exactly the same dreams and aspirations as me. In fact he already owned a property in Tasmania he was renting out. Shook me to the bloody core it has. Makes you wonder if it's a good thing to know the day your going to die... because if he had, he would have definitely spent his life living instead of saving (working in a job that drained and tired him and left little time for enjoyment) for retirement. |

He felt unwell and was diagnosed with Pancreatic cancer and was dead within three months...he was in his mid 60's. You do not know what is round the corner and there is a time when you have to say "i have enough" and get on with other things. I have officially been retired a while but have carried on working a few months of the year because I enjoy it....but have now got to the point where I think enough is enough. |

My BIL died last year. He was very fit and was actually training for a Triathlon.

My view is that it can strike at any time, as you say. But I can't help but feel it is not macho to die because you basically pissed it up the wall and knackered yourself. We seen to idolise singers in this way. |
