Driving back from the park coming in to our street there was smoke everywhere.
The house opposite us has just been completely gutted by fire. Fortunately no one was at home at the time. There's 5 fire engines outside and a TV news team.

Too true, turning into a small cu-de-sac full of "rubberneckers" and fire appliances thinking "please God, not my house" then seeing the neighbours house gutted, thinking, "thank God" then feeling guilty about it.

I saw a house burn down when I was 15. The elderly lady initially got out but then went back in for her money didn't trust banks) and sadly died.
I'll never forget it - it's a frightening thing to see.

Oooh, will switch on 7 news and see if its on....
I remember when I lived in a bedsit in Lincoln (I was about 18 at the time), it was one Sunday night, I was lying in bed watching London's Burning thinking "wow, it's realistic, I can even smell the smoke..>"
Turned out flat next door was on fire, I think the tenants did it themselves as in insurance job, they were sat outside just watching it burn not really bothered!!! It was a bit scary at the time....

Really feel for the couple, saw the flames from our garden, and called 911, they were already on their way.
