battered old car needs some attention..
 

Its a good runner but falling apart inside, now the roof lining is hanging down. Anyone had any experience of trying to stick one back together? The thin foam lining has turned to dusty bits and now I'm just left with the fabric (like a brushed nylon) dangling on my head :thumbdown: when Im driving. What can I use to glue it back? Wouldn't have been a problem except shiny car is having dents removed, (kindly put in friends son's mate) - its a long story...

As it happens, I had exactly the same problem in Florida some years ago. The headlining on my Saturn developed a hanging problem and I objected to it resting on my head! (Anywhere the sun is really fierce will present the same symptom.)

I tried cutting a slit and spraying aerosol adhesive in but that didn't work.

I took it to a specialist who did a beautiful job in a couple of hours - it was new material and looked better than new - and was amazed at the cost: US$80 only! Mind you, that was five years ago - but it was really good value.

My brother had the same problem recently, he said if the lining is perished you will have a hell of a job getting it to re'stick. There is a place on Dixon Road that sells new lining which he cant remember the name of but its one of the auto places - its an easy job apparently and not costly - good luck.

Rip it out, you cant stick it back up once its "gone" Then ring around for a replacement.... costs circa 300 to 400 bucks fitted. So maybe not worth replacing, Doesnt look too bad with the lining off actually.

Is it a Commodore by any chance? A common problem with them, I understand.

If you google through the Commodore forums, there are lots of how-tos and explanations of your options (which will be the same regardless of model).
