How about a DVD player, 1 year warranty, USB port, Mpeg4 (divx) 5.1, and progressive scan, for 35.00 bucks. Thats about 13 quid.

Makes a mockery of bringing over a DVD player from the UK.

Available from Aldi from next Thursday.

Anyone get one... I saw dvd 1020 and a d08 model at the local aldi, both claiming the same, and the same price.

My uk ASDA £25 one just bit the dust ( wasn't happy after shipping )

My last Tevion broke, however it was made in Eastern Europe. These ones are made in China, from what looks like better components at first glance. I assumed it was because it was in youngest's room and he kept a dvd in it switched on 24/7 if i forgot to switch it off.

I bought two of them, in purple and black boxes with two model numbers a yellow sticker "plu895" comes with the Tevion lable of TDV008. As far as I can tell from looking up the MPEG4 Website a generation 8 chip in it, which is a very late chip. It plays avi, divx and xvid, which is very handy.

Me thinks the buyers at aldi have seriously underpriced this model Try finding a xvid playing DVD player for less than 80 bucks, let alone one that is made from good components and includes progressive scan. I've boxed up my Sony DVD/VHS and put the tevion in its place.

Only flaw so far is it's locked region 4, however thats just a matter of time before the hack becomes available. I'll try the following later.

DEC do imported maytag ones at a very cheap price. (Discount electrical Centre) will try and find a flyer that has the price. I'm not to sure about DEC as a trustworthy outlet though. Will ask around at work for you.

Just checked on Whirlpool/DTV and most reviews are good about the outlet.

Give erm a ring

My annual WACA membership. $405 ($25 more than last year) for 2 people. For that I get:
Aus v India test,
Aus v Sri Lanka 1 dayer,
Aus v NZ 20/20 match,
Various domestic matches.
I reckon it's a bargain considering I have access to air con'ed bar with decent drinks and also access to quality food.

Region Hack - Tevion TDVD08

1. open the drive (leave it open)
2. press "9 7 3 5"
3. Followed by the region (9 is region free)
4. insert DVD disc and enjoy

Some UK comments say its play region 2 (UK), and region 4 out of the box.

Better have one in stock tomorrow then

Didnt notice this before, thanks Datamile.

Got another Bargain. All the products here are fairly top end, the photoframes are particuarly good, although a bit pricey because they can do so much more than the average photo frame.

Cheapest LCD"s in Aussie perhaps.

http://www.koganexpress.com.au/

40inch samsung panel 1366 x 768 plenty of inputs/outputs etc 1500 bucks not bad at all.

BTW the photo frames are great presents for Gadget lovers, hint, pity my missus doesn't read this lol Think of it as a DIVX/Avi playing portable dvd player. (driven by flash memory I presume)

Those photo frames are cool. Someone on here a week or so ago posted a link to a tv sized one that hangs on the wall and you get huge pics scrolling though. Looked brilliant. About $1000 plus so outside my birthday list

The dvd player is happy to play region 4 and 2 out of the box, and its ok on divx/avi. A couple of pauses on my buffy dvd but it might be the disk or avi compression.

Wouldn't mount my usb hard drive, but might be the formatting I used.

Its actually a rebadged conia m580.

Wow where did you find that out, I didn't see anything on Whirlpool about it ?

I got the first series of Life on Mars, via bittorrent played the whole lot without a skip, I was well chuffed, saved all that stuffing around with conversion, or connecting my laptop to my rear pro TV.

Changing the subject matter, I bought a breadmaker, A "Breville Bakers Oven" Cost 69 bucks, from a 2nds shop here in Coburg. So far so good, Makes decent enough bread, multigrain at less than 1 buck per loaf, not sure on the running costs yet though. At 5 loaves consumption a week minimum in this house could be a bargain

We have a Panasonic breadmaker that makes a 1.5kg loaf for under a $. It works well if you measure the ingredients exactly and use bread improver. We use it all the time. It's great to wake up on Sunday morning to the smell of freshly baking bread.
