Re: Australia - summed up
I don't need to substantiate my opinion.
References to over regulation are rife throughout this site.
I work in healthcare and some of the H & S regulations alone are far more complicated and convoluted than in the UK.
I also own a boat and that, alone, is rife with rules and regulations
God knows what it is like if you work in a trade.

In my trade in Oz I open a bank account.... Only register a business name if I don't use my own name, register for GST, hang a shingle on the door and I'm on my way.
Though I have a qual, I don't need one to practice, nor any sort of license.

Do you have a licence to hang a shingle on your door?

Australia summed up in one incident - 31st December and my front left tyre develops a bubble on the sidewall of the tyre. Drive to 5 different dealers and they all tell me it will be 2nd week January before the tyre for my bog standard Mazda is available in QLD and that I shouldn't do any highway driving. Screwing up our plans for NYE.
takeaway the sun and beaches and it's just a crappy little backwater, 20 years behind the rest of the world
aaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrgggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhh hh.
In Scotland I'd phone Kwik Fit and they'd be at my door in an hour!!

May I deduce from the above posts that Perf is no longer considered the armpit of Australia on BE?
Or would that be taking it too far?

I cant comment on Europe but after MANY years in Australia there is absolutely no doubt in my mind it is way more highly regulated than the UK. You need a license or permit for everything.
