Australia ranks second for quality of life
Australia ranks second for quality of life AUSTRALIA has the second-best quality of life in the world and could pip Norway for top spot, the author of a UN report on migration and development says. Australia was ranked second among 182 countries on a scale measuring life expectancy, school enrolments and income in the United Nations Development Program's Human Development Report 2009, released yesterday.

Tsk tsk tsk Polls!
"Average temperatures vary between -10°C in January in Spitzbergen and +16°C in July in Oslo."

Oslo is stunning. The country is run brilliantly and they have huge revenues to fund infrastructure because of their oil reserves. Stacks of Norwegians have 2nd homes on the 'fjords' of which there are trazillions. It really does look like a picture postcard.
On the other hand, waaay too much pickled herring and not enough vodka in the world will overcome eating the delicacy they have with the rotted fish they eat.
On the downside - the 20hrs of sunlight is a bit weird and the suicide rate is really really high (on account of eating rotten fish with vodka at twilight at 4am)

Quick, everyone - teach the Norwegians to speak English with an Australian accent!

Polls or surveys on subjects such as "quality of life" are totally meaningless, since the fundamental question is so subjective and personal. I suppose they *do* keep polling companies in employment, thereby keeping *their* quality of life up to scratch <g>.

I was going to emigrate to Iceland 2 years ago based on this survey, however shortly after Iceland went broke.
Can anyone tell me if this years survey is more accurate

Ahhh, this is a quality thread, and one that should be popped into the MBTUK forum just to really wind some people up innit.
Infact I think I am the man to do it, I am going to do a "before you all up sticks and move back to that miserable shi* hole Brittaaan you wanna read this and stay in Australia".
its all be said before but it cant be said enough, it is "like" down to each individual
