No, it specifically DOESN'T cover damage by gnawing or chewing- so it won't cover you for termites either.

Our policy covers us for damage, not by our own dog but by wild animals

Oh, who are you with? Might have to switch, if the cockatoos don't stop destroying things.

RACQ I think the O/H deals with all that stuff. We were insured with them when the cockies ate the veranda. They would pay for that yet when our dog ate the spa they wouldn't cough up as it was the family pet that caused the damage

I have ants in my kitchen cupboards and bathroom, I can't find a nest anyway, this has been going on a couple of days, about 20 here, 20 there. I'v just been killing them and disinfecting where they have been but they keep coming back, the little blighters!

How can I find the nest?

Just ignore them, they don't eat much & if they're the little black ones they don't sting either. We have them occasionally, usually just before a big storm as they seem to take to high ground. We had house guests once & they were horrified that we tolerated them. They were in the sugar & as neither of us take sugar we hadn't noticed them.
Alternatively you can buy a gallon of spray & spray all around the perimeter of your house that keeps them away for up to 6 months. Or use ant bait that will kill the entire colony if you buy enough.

Buy ant rid or make up a solution of borax and honey and put a few drops where they are congregating. They will take it back to the nest and kill the blighters. Be prepared for there to be hordes of ants at first coming for the nectar, but over a few days it will diminish.

Now, we seem to have maggots coming out of out carpet in the kitchen/diner. We have taken the rug outside and disinfected it and steam cleaned the floor. However, this evening there were a few more. What else can we do without ruining the rug- it is 3,4m, so more of a carpet really.

It's my two sissy sons, moaning about them like a pair of girls, I've told them they're harmless. I have my mother staying with me at the moment too and she's not keen either. I better go and get some spray.

Cheers.

I remember you telling me about the solution but forgot what was in it.

Hope you sort the maggots out, they are disgusting, give me ants over those anyday.

The tiny black ants don't really bother me. They come in if there is a hint of food around but then disappear.

You're wasting your time spraying, that just kills the ones in the house. They breed faster than you can spray. To eliminate them, if that's what you want to do, you need to put bait down that they take back to the nest. It will kill the whole nest. That or the mortien spray it comes in a bulk pack with a spray thingo attached & you do the full house perimeter. Mortein - innovative, effective and easy to use pest control products
