I missed the concert, just wondering if The Queen requested Sir Elton play Candle in the Wind
She says that it always makes her laugh

I'm watching the fag end of it now, I made the same comment to the OH and she laughed ... I guess we must have the same sense of humour on some level

Watched about an hour of minor Brit celebs gush it up ...
and as Barry Norman used to say: 'And why not?'
My brother laments the fact there is no sign of any of the Dimbleby clan. Have they all died?

It is interesting that other parts of the BBC are highlighting Punk at this time (thanks UKNova), facist ragime indeed ...

Diamond Jubilee
OMG I missed most of it due to time differences but that which I saw has left me (almost) speechless and decidedly homesick.
Of the little I saw some of the most touching moments were of the crowds walking slowly down The Mall behind rows of police officers towards the palace. No one was pushing, shoving or running and the whole procession was an orderly mass of flag waving good humoured subjects of the queen.Magnificent.

Re: Diamond Jubilee
Despite the weather, the UK knows how to put on the pomp and circumstance of a Jubilee. The diamond choir singing the new music made me cry.

Re: Diamond Jubilee
All my expat friends on facebook been posting the same, all very homesick and proud.
I watched most of it and loved it. Made me laugh to see the people all smiling and cheering at the river getting soaking wet but not caring. Some great pics of the street parties too, eating soggy sausage rolls in the cold and wet! Disputes the whinging POM term a bit :-)

Re: Diamond Jubilee
Do you mean the Gary Barlow song? My bestie was part of the Military Wives Choir and I saw her close up! So proud of her. And miss her loads. Made me surprisingly homesick. However, it's meant to be Summer and my brother said it's going to be -1 in Manchester tonight - hahahaha!
