remember they did see off the old fascist Spanish police, it was so much easier when we had an empire and fuzzy wuzzies with sharpened guava fruit to fight :D

We have the money, just not the stupidity to be dick waving like the Arabs. We have learnt our lesson from the Olympics. Spending billions of $ on something that lasts a couple of weeks then rots away.

These big events never benefit the host country. Australia should save the money and invest in public transport infrastructure instead.
