"The Leaving of Liverpool"

It is actually half Australian. The film was made as a collaboration between ABC & BBC I think.
It is a great film, based on true stories about the child migration scheme after the 2nd world war

The Piano (my favorite) although it was filmed mostly in Nz I am sure it was an oz cast and director (apart from the main characters who were from this side of the pond)

Romper stomper - awesome and disturbing movie (already mentioned)
