I work in a pre-school and we have had more spaces on our books than last year- people can't afford the fees as readily, and we are talking about the affluent North Shore here. Many centres have new Govt. directives to increase staffing levels, so have to raise fees to cover the extra costs. It has hit working parents hard, and some centres are closing as they can't balance the books.

I've often said that mail volumes are a good measure of the Economy. We'll if I'm correct, boy are we in strife. Everything has just about stopped. We always get a dip for end of financial year. This is about 3 to 4 weeks early and far more dramatic than usual.
Whats going on in your workplace. Ours is the quietest I've ever seen it.
I'm normally upbeat about economic matters... especially housing, but this is freaky.

Busy time of year in fundraising - trying to get you all to give us your dollars instead of the taxman.

Overseas Internet purchases are now a significant proportion of parcels 25 pct maybe... Aus Post are creating 35 new Jobs at Ardeer, Melbournes Parcels center. Those positions will all be filled from within the system, where work has dropped off because of automation and mail volume drop.
Having a think about it myself, as It involves Day Shift... 60 mins minimum extra travelling a day though. Aus post have only given us 3 days to think about it before vacancies close. I would imagine lots of Part timers and People that live in the West and work at Dandenong will be going for these Full Time jobs.
