I work in a pre-school and we have had more spaces on our books than last year- people can't afford the fees as readily, and we are talking about the affluent North Shore here. Many centres have new Govt. directives to increase staffing levels, so have to raise fees to cover the extra costs. It has hit working parents hard, and some centres are closing as they can't balance the books.

I'm normally upbeat about economic matters... especially housing, but this is freaky.
Do reckon that it has more to do with a dip in methods of communicating? I know, for instance, from my last job that businesses are using less and less direct postal mail to send offers and flyers to their prospects.

Busy time of year in fundraising - trying to get you all to give us your dollars instead of the taxman.

Overseas Internet purchases are now a significant proportion of parcels 25 pct maybe... Aus Post are creating 35 new Jobs at Ardeer, Melbournes Parcels center. Those positions will all be filled from within the system, where work has dropped off because of automation and mail volume drop.

Having a think about it myself, as It involves Day Shift... 60 mins minimum extra travelling a day though. Aus post have only given us 3 days to think about it before vacancies close. I would imagine lots of Part timers and People that live in the West and work at Dandenong will be going for these Full Time jobs.

Wasn't that the problem with that industry. ABC Learning cooked the books and caused an imbalance. That was a bit of a cock up.
