Attacked!
Went out for a ride today. I was attacked by a magpie on the way out and a crow on the way home.
As if the bloody spiders aren't bad enough! |

As if the bloody spiders aren't bad enough! Found some info for you. Might pay to read the "Swooping" section at the bottom.:) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Australian_Magpie |
Re: Attacked!
A colleague (lives in North Richmond and cycles to the station about 5am every morning) has been attacked lately. He sent a mail round this morning with a link to a cycling forum that has a map on it, where you can log the location of attacks - a lot of our colleagues cycle to work.
I can't remember the forum off-hand but you should be able to google for it. |

You'll find that they'll attack over the next 6-9 weeks - breeding season.

Thanks. The cable ties idea has been suggested to me and I will use it on the Spring Ride.

Re: Attacked!
Apparently they only swoop from behind. Someone with nowt better to do did a study once, and found that if he painted eyes on the back of his baseball cap, he didn't get swooped at all.
So you could try putting stickers on the back of your helmet and draw big eyes on them.... |

My husband is a postie and he is lucky as there are no trees on his round so he does not get attacked but a friend of his does.He can be seen riding his bike and waving his arms around like a mad thing, poor thing!
Dog owners watch out!My black lab cross gets attacked by birds while the other one does not. They must think she is a giant crow:ohmy:Sue. |
