Our landlord decided to put fake grass down on our front lawn a couple of months ago. It took a day to put down and looks very good, especially when compared to the other lawns in our area which are baked soil with the odd tuft of grass. I don't see the point of paying good money to lay turf/seed a lawn given the lack of rain. The only houses near us that have decent looking natural grass lawns use grey/tank water.
When we buy a house, I am just going to use succulents and sand or stones at the front of the house, then either fake grass or wood chip at the back for our daughter to play in. Grass just isn't a sensible option given the amount of water it needs, water that can be used better elsewhere.

Once upon a time I vowed never ever to have synthetic grass. However we bought a house in August and the back lawn was a dust bowl, with clumps of weeds and a wee bit of grass. It proved impossible to get it looking decent so we went for the synthetic lawn and had it installed in December. Nothing at all like the old astro turf, very soft and comfortable. We had 50 folks round for a party on Saturday and so many people commented on how good it was - look and feel - and most were pleasantly surprised.

In the space of a week our kids played on it more than the previous 3 months.

And no need to cut or water. Hoorah.

Then where's your satirical smilies after each post?

When anyone replies to a post and includes the term 'son', that indicates to me they're straight on the defensive and there's a hint of truth in it.
