Anyone want to play name that spider? (caution photo attached--LOL)
This was on the wall of our living room this morning. Was it a small huntsman? Or are there others besides huntsman spiders that resemble this?
As for scale...bigger than any Aussie coins and wouldn't fit down the vacuum cleaner nozzle...my husband dispatched it with a broom.
Edited to add: aaargh. Some days I love it here and then you get the giant spiders...

Yeah, he was fast...but we eventually got him.
At the risk of giving myself nightmares, how does something this big get in? Can they squeeze through very small spaces?

don't worry too much about them, they're pretty harmless and they eat the insects.
They are more scary than anything else.
And yes they do squeeze in tight spots.

Yeah, I know they're "good" to have around but I just can't have anything that big and fast living over my head...I keep the daddy long legs around but uugh...a huntsman...nope.

Poor baby Huntsman... you should have just picked it up and put it outside. They are harmless.
The Daddy Long Legs though.... most poisonous spider in the world (but also harmless before you go killing them all... well, harmless unless they bite you on a cut

There's loads (I think at least 30) different species all referred to as 'huntsman' and that is indeed one of them. It'll keep the cockroach population down.

Looks like a Huntsmen to me.
Here's a picture of our first one. Notice the hockey stick in the picture for scale. Mostly the hockey stick was to try and get the spider to come lower down the wall so I could spray it.
