Default Anyone in UK having problems with BT Yahoo Email???

ITS DRIVING ME NUTSO!!!!

For 24 hrs now I have been unable to download my email to me PC into either Outlook or Outlook Express. The message I am getting is that the POP3 server is not responding. I have tried changing the port from 25 to 587 (as per suggestions from BT Yahoo) but it has no effect - I have tried reinstalling my mail program.... AARRGGHH

I phoned them and they can see no issues in my area!!!!!!! (We are in Yorkshire)... anyone else having issues or can anyone give any suggestions????

Claire,

Dont know if this will help, but think you can access your emails via BT Yahoo's website.

Go HERE scroll down the page and sign in..........most ISP's allow you to check your mail online so may be worth a try!

I am using a POP3 BT Yahoo account and I have no problem connecting from Mozilla Firebird. Normally, these kind of problems are due to either (a) lack of connectivity (but this would mean NO internet), (b) port-blocking and (c) firewalls (be it software or hardware based).

Have you tinkered with your firewall recently?

You could try the following link (but you will need to create an account) http://www.dyndns.com/support/tools/openport.html

This web-based utility will allow you to test the open (or indeed closed) connections via an ip and port address. If this works for you then it means that the problem must lie on your local domain (i.e. something local to your PC is blocking the connection).

I had to use this when I set up an IP network camera for monitoring our house when we are away (as it didn't always work).

We got this all singing all dancing PC last Friday & yesterday afternoon the Norton 2005 did do some automatic updates... well I have uninstalled in & installed Grisofts AVG and it is working fine! YIPPEE! Apparantly there is a bug with Norton 2005 that "over protects" your emails! LOL

Norton 2005 nearly wrecked my system when I attempted to upgrade from 2003. Ended up taking Norton off my computer, cutting my losses, and now have McAfee which is no problem.
