I am considering buying one but will have to save up for years to afford one! Unless they do finance that is? If they do how long do you reckon before they would lend? I am seriously paniking at the moment as my job in Fremantle is 27 miles away from where I am staying.....not sure to turn it down and try and find something closer when I get there or not...all depends on how easy it will be to get a car...

That's fine Lee, PM away. However due to the fact that I am emigrating RIGHT NOW I may have sporadic internet access for the next few days so apologies in advance if I can't reply immediately.

Good luck with the test drive.
We have a Tuscon and it is great ... brilliant fun to razz around in on the beach

As regards the fuel economy is it reallt that horrific? Seems the only downside really and maybe the resale value ? although with a 5 yr warranty i'd be planning on keeping it.

Hey Bix do you recommend a Tuscon then ? Which model did you get?do you recommend the top of the range as opposed to the entry model 2 wheel drive?) ??? Ive only really just started looking for a possible car and ive never owned a car like this,i usually drive punto's etc !!!

Any other comments folks ???

Lee
We got the Tuscon 4WD but so far have only driven it in 2WD.
Have done a few potholed gravel tracks up and down dale and it's not been lacking so I do wonder whether we should have just bought the cheaper Tuscon City.

Because it's only 2WD it doesn't have the heavy axle weight so I would imagine the more economic 2 litre engine would cope okay.
As most of our driving is on sealed roads I reckon we could have gotten away with it.

yeah thats what i was thinking.I dont think i'll offroad with it i wanted it more for the interior space and the high driving position.
Not sure how much insurance would be for something like a tuscon and i bet the tyres aint cheap to replace either!
I testdrove one today and was very impressed, although it was the 4WD 2.0 diesel it shifted really well.I'll have to see what the missus says

Just make sure when you get one it's got the right date on the compliance plate and you're not getting some old dealer stock that's been around for ever. Dealers will be keen to throw in 'sweetners' to get rid if them, but as Bix says buy late in the month. Best way to get a deal is to go on the last day or 2nd last day of the month knowing you can sign up there and then and get them down on price. They will kill and eat their own grannies to get end of month targets. Personally I wouldn't have one given (a Hyundai), but I have to drive one for work so I usually wear a paper bag over my head when I'm in it. Spend a bit more and get a Toyota/Nissan, you won't regret it it in the long run. Another option would be to look at the manual transmission Tucson - better economy if that's what's driving your purchase.

ive got tuscon elite AWD and love it. bought it 2 weeks after arriving. use 2wd mostly but have ysed 4wd and it handles so well.

easy to drive, comfortable and really spacious. bought ours in brisbane had done 5k iwas 2nd owner and got it for 29k which was 5k under book price.

hubby bought all the car mags and price guides when we were buying and the write ups were excellent.

Hi, we have one, its a good car, and has served us well in the 18 months or so we have had it. The latest version of it is a 2-wheel drive instead of the 4 that you may or may not require. The 2-wheel is about 3k cheaper too, and looks exactly the same. Unfortunately for us the 2-wheel drive (the dealer assured us wasnt going to be released in Aus, as that was the one we wanted) was released in Aus about 3 weeks after we took delivery of ours! Not like a car salesman to be occasionally untruthful

We got it. Went back to the dealer today and ordered a nice black shiny Tuscon with tinted windows. We got the on road costs and the cost of the window tints and light and bonnet protectors thrown in too.

We're picking it up next week, can't wait
