Default Anyone going to Costco today?

Let us know how you get on?

I'm going to hold off a week or so maybe and let the inital buzz (read queues) die back a little, but I'm really looking forward to getting in there.

I suspect that there are a lot of people who plan to go, just not in the first week. I might do a drive by later and see how it looks. I was hoping that having the business membership would mean avoiding some of the crowds, but I don't think that is the case.

I heard on the TV that you can buy the following examples at Costco today:
Three loaves of bread for $7.49
18 eggs for $2.29
3 litres milk $2.79

That's $12.57

Not sure how much damage that would do to ALDI, where the same things would cost $10.18, without paying membership...

Woolworth's though, may be different.

Got an email with my first lot of vouchers. Free 18 eggs today only. Discounts off a range of food and non-food items, including $50 off a set of Bridgestone tyres and $30 off a set of glasses. Probably go on Thursday and see what the prices look like.

I bought 3 loaves of real (not crappy supermarket) wholemeal bread for $7.50 at Brumbies on Saturday morning.

Costco are going to have to do better to compete.

As I expected traffic is a nightmare, just read a thread on Britvics.

I can get three of the loaves of bread I buy in Woolies and Coles for $6.87 as I hate big slices.

Also my eggs cost me $5.00 a tray of thirty from the local egg farm so will not be rushing to Costco.

Also wholesale butcher has fillet steak for $18 a kilo just up the road and I can walk there.

What type of bread and are the eggs proper free range?

Cheap food quite often = poor animal welfare - IMO you often get what you pay for. Also who are the ones that suffer - the farmers and the animals?

Hmm I was wondering about car accessories etc. At present I buy my tyres 2nd hand with less than 12 months wear (Bips Pascoe Vale... been going there since circa 89 ) (for my Ford Falcon) I put on Bridgestones last time at 45 bucks each, fitted and balanced..... They last about 3 years at our yearly K rate.

But I am definitely interested in going there.

How does the Tyre thing work, do you get a voucher to pick them up somewhere .... or do you actually have to carry them home ?

Probably the same as Costco, they didn't say they were the really good ones... therefore the price comparison may be the same.

I tried to see what Costco's are, but all I found was a forum where everyone is arguing about Costco eggs
If you dont like caged eggs, fine, but costco is not the only one making/selling them
How come Costco eggs have such noticeably fragile shells compared to conventional eggs from supermarkets?
