The last two months or so, odd, very odd. But i could not pinpoint the problem, thought it must have been an ulcer, or maybe my gallstones.

Anyway, when i was in Oz, i either always drank bottled water or went thirsty, but one day it was a choice between a few VB's or a few bottles of water. Logic told me they were both of a water content, but one would have a longer lasting effect, so i plumped for the VB's. That night i filled a few empty water bottles from the tap and froze them. I let them defrost, and drank them as normal. I think freezing might have changed the chemical makeup of the water, do not know.

I still had no stomach complaints in Oz. I never drank water straight from the tap in Oz. Got back here, i have been drinking the council pop, and such the last few months my stomach has been pretty painfull. I started freezing my water again last week, no stomach aches at all. All gone, i reckon it was the water, anyone got any experiences of similar problems either in the UK or in Oz?

Same. That expression is all the rage with Aussies at the moment. Just like "thats the ducks nuts", although I much prefer "the dogs bollocks"- so to speak.

I cant drink UK tap water now. It too harsh and gives me a massive sore throat and stomach issues. Whenever there I have to drink bottled water. I think your body becomes used to the water hardness and chemicals which are considerably lessened in my water area in qld.

The drinking water here is mingin. We have an under sink water filtration system thingio but I still don't drink it - use it for cooking etc. I can only drink bottled water and only if it's ice cold.

I have been drinking Adelaide tap water for years and never had a problem....(twitch)... problem..(twitch, twitch)...problem. Can't understand why cruise liners don't like it

Seriously, it is not the best tap water by far but it has never made me ill. I prefer English tap water more though.

The tap water here does not taste nice but as merseygirl says it should not make you ill. We use Brita filter jug and it does take quite a bit of the muddy taste out. I think 4 years of drinking boiled tap water in Vietnam toughened my guts up

My son was living down in Bega and visited me a few months ago and he reckoned Sydney water is disgusting, he reckons it tasted awful and he could smell chlorine!!!

I do think you get used to one kind of water and need time to adjust, one thing I had forgotten about the UK was that iced water comes straight out of the tap, no refrigeration necessary.

We used to live in Turkey where the water was pure poison. And it was so heavily chlorinated that the bathroom smelled like old fashioned swimming baths and all the washing got bleached.

We drink rainwater here.

My tank water used to make me feel ill, but then we got one of those under the sink filters with a tap and was much better. OMG you should have seen the crap in the filters every 6 months when we changed them

Does anyone else get heartburn after they drink cold water? It gets me evertime!
