Default Anyone else got work related stress today?

Dont know which is worse... Lying awake all night worrying about work, or waking up at 5.30 to go to work and realising you're not going... Coz you're off with stress...

Hope the bloody weather improves

Its meant to be nice over the next few days.Try and get lots of fresh air and exercise.Kings Park festival is on at the moment.Maybe take a drive up there.Look at the beautiful flowers and grab your self a coffee.Im not work related stress just stressed and worried with younger child.I think high school is a bit much for a 12 year old sometimes.

Hmmmm not good. Just chill.
I find I tend to be a stress carrier at work rather than sufferer

I do the swan routine....

Try and be calm, upbeat, in control .... Reassure patients and staff that everything is fine...... Glide along on the surface

However... My little orange webbed feet are paddling away nineteen to the dozen in the" murky depths of nursing" (thanks Donald Schonn for that phrase, one of my favourites)

Its only when i get out of the water you realise how much effort moving is for me...

Hence the ipad, BE and FB

I've got work related stress most days... and I don't even have a "proper" job anymore!!

... at least not a paid one.

Seems like a concept some can't grip... as demonstrated in a discussion with a half-wit checkout guy the other evening.

"Have you had a good day?" he says.

"Yes, I've been busy in the garden" I say.

"Oh, you work in a garden for a job" he says.

"No, I worked in the garden for no pay", I chuckle.

"Oh, you had the day off" he says.

"No, I work for no pay everyday" I say.

"Oh" he muttered, seemingly confused.

"Some days I even clean the toilet for nothing" I say.

"Oh, that's not a good day" he says.

Pretty funny that.

These things tend to pass. My 3 year 'career break' was mostly stress-related.

Eventually (after much wallowing in self-pity) I found the most useful thing to do if you can't face 'work' is to give in to it (finances obviously permitting) and do something that engages you AND, preferably, gets you out into the world.

Sometimes it's the last thing you want to do but going out there and engaging with people can sometimes get you back on track. Even on a voluntary basis.

Good Luck

Hope you feel better soon. And yes, get near the water ASAP.

(N.B. I'm not suggesting you jump off a cliff or anything )

I don't work a lot however the weather this year has really got me down.

Autumn lasted a week at the beginning of April and it's been shite ever since. VERY depressing. I get what little sunlight there is whenever I can. I'm indoors now as it's cloudy AGAIN!
