The partner has on occasion claimed we had ice on the grass when he used to leave for work at 4.30 am, for some reason I missed it.

We do have a well used wood burner, love that but I like a really dramatic change of seasons, like 3 metres of snow, streets knee high in autumn leaves, seeing and feeling it is totally different.

Plus the atmosphere, I dont know if Hobart at Chrstmas is quite the wonderland of say Quebec, London, York or New York.

Its odd how I crave the proper seasons now as when I lived in UK I never gave it much thought, certainly didnt appreciate it.

Why do I do this? Is it to piss sensitive people off?

No, it's to point out to prospective migrants (like wot this site is comprised of) that everything posted is not to be taken as gospel despite what Phil Up His Arse In Australia would lead them to believe.

D'ya see?

Now, get some friends and lively up yourself

Well, I miss country lanes and inglenook fireplaces and fauna that doesn't kill you and flora that goes crazy rambling and still looks great (and doesn't provide hiding places for creatures that kill you). I miss jumble sales and wonderful eccentrics and people with sharp wits and random kindness.

Dickens didn't have snow ploughs in his Christmas Carol.

Leave my Christmas Card fantasy alone will ya.

Its mid winter I want robins, snow, sleighs, children in mittens, all covered in silver glitter thank you.

I still maintain a picture of a bloody pelican in a bright red sunset over the beach is hardly worthy of the title 'winterwonderland' .

My child is currently wearing mittens. But she's also wearing pyjamas, a fairy costume (complete with wings), a headband with bunny ears on, a pink backpack containing a doorstop shaped like a chicken, and sandals. I think the fairy wings have silver glitter on them, too ...

People dont fail MBA courses, they are banished from the affiliation with a tarring and feathering experience in front of the "Managers Weekly" executive board and threatened that if they ever apply for a job in management they will mysteriously disappear never to be heard of again.

You writing for the Economist rather proves my point.

Did you write any anti whaling pieces?
