Anyone in Brisbane City know what's going on in Myer?!

Heard there's a gun man in Myer City store and the mall's been closed? http://www.brisbanetimes.com.au/quee...308-2fpw2.html. My kids are at school not far from there and don't want an escaped gunman rampaging through the area.
Anyone know what's going on?

Just watching it on the breaking news rolling coverage (before I head in to work in a bit!).
Alleged gunman is in the middle of the Queen St Mall. The place is in lockdown so there's just old mate there now, plus a ton of Police holding a cordon. No people around. He won't be getting out of the area and wondering around (so you don't have to worry about your kids). Hopefully it'll end peacefully and he'll surrender to police.
Weird watching the footage from the news choppers. You could actually see the shirtless man pacing around by himself on the phone (hopefully to police).

Looks like it's all over. The guy is on his way to hospital in an ambulance.

Yes, looks like it, thank goodness all went off without too much of a problem. Just watched the ambulance drive to the RBH - hopefully roads will be all clear to drive across town at pickup time.

I'm guessing drugs. looks like Police were trying to calm him down and he broke away, acting like an eejit. They shot (rubber?) to injure and bring him down.

Another win for the good guys
Right, I'm off to work. Looks like I've missed all the action though!

According to his mate - they were meeting in town for lunch - both not long out of jail and with mental health issues. Hopefully he'll get help in hospital.

From the blurry photo on the news site it looks like it might be "roid rage" a la Pistorious.

Good to see that the Aussie Police can use appropriate restraint at times rather than stomping in with all tasers and guns blazing.
