Any truth? British Jealousy?

Re: Any truth? British Jealousy?
Not in the western suburbs (Mleb) where I live. I wage a daily war on litter in my front garden (dropped by customers at the local shop).
Wherever she lives- it is not a part I have visited....or is she really just a Daily Mail writer trying to stir people up?

I've just read it....has to be the funniest thing I've read in weeks!!!!
We are rich. Bloody rich. So rich that no-one blinks an eye at paying as much for a lime as some of our neighbours in Asia earn in a day.
no litter on the streets. Nowhere. And I am yet to see a central reservation where the grass is not well-tended and the attractive shrubs not perfectly pruned.
t is the cars. I swear there is none on the road that is older than eight years. They are clean and dent-free and meet strict safety standards.
FFS sake which Australia is she living in?!!!!!

Australia has beaches like the one in that article anyway.
Many of the beaches on the Great Ocean road are like that, particularly the Apollo Bay beach. Wide and sandy along a small bay with lush green hills as a backdrop and it even has the cold water temperatures and lack of days in summer warm enough to swim that that Welsh beach has.
Here's one of my favourites from the area, Johanna beach on the western side of Cape Otway. It's a dangerous surf beach though and has held professional world surfing competitions so not really family friendly.

No it's an indoctrinated mantra that Australia is the best at everything.
"Aussie Aussie Aussie, Oi Oi Oi" ...............................O.K chants aside as they stole that one anyway

Yeah, I didn't recognise that bit of the article but I did recognise the cashed up bogans bit. Especially here in Perth.
It is expensive though. I was just saying to my wife how in the 10 years we have been here just about everything has doubled in price: houses, petrol, rent, insurance etc.. but my wages haven't and I've been promoted up 2 levels in that time.

In fact, the DT has just done a good piece on how prices in Britain have tripled over the last 30 years.

And while mine and the boss's combined incomes place us quite a bit above average I see loads who drive big top-ish of the range cars, they have boats and caravans, and go on very expensive holidays, etc. Then we visit them in their big and smart homes and they have expensive showhome style furnishings and kitchens. The wealth is palpable. Which is great, but as we drive in our battered old car back to our rented home full of aging and worn out looking furnishings we can't help wondering to ourselves: where do they get it all from?

I've never heard anyone other than poms objecting to paying inflated prices. They just cough up and quietly pay. It puzzles me, this culture of silent acceptance.

This should explain it. Credit and the advent of interest free

Take a timeshare in a boat if you must, then you don't have to maintain it! 'Tis expensive though.

noooo- they are a pain to keep and maintain. Neighbours either side have boats and they are forever scrubbing, hosing, flushing etc- the stink of petrol is horrid as is the noise as they rev their engines. The boats are not even used every weekend, but sit cluttering up the driveways.

Hopefully it isn't from interest free credit because just like in the UK, the chickens will eventually come home to roost...
