Any 'left of centre' poms want to meet up on the Gold Coast?

Arrived with my wife and 2 boys (12 and 9) 3 months ago. The strain is now beginning to reveal its ugly head and would love to meet up with like minded folks on the Gold Coast. Interests include football (I am Liverpool, wife Chelsea), music (of the variety you heard on the late great John Peel show!) and current affairs- basically slagging off everything Tory!!!. Get in touch.

no, none racist people with a broad socialist/liberal outlook. Sick and tired of speaking to Brits who blame immigrants for the countries woes.

Really? I thought it was Tony's total mismanagement and desire to kiss the USA's butt that did that created the countries woes. I stand corrected.

If parliament could change anything they would abolish it. I was one of several hundred thousand who marched against the war. Blair - a Thatcherite in Labour clothing. Still the lesser of two evils.

My take on politics is that all politicians are liars, and I don't trust any of them. I used to like John Peel though, and Tottenham Hotspur :D

You cant blame the immigrants as they are doing just as we are doing, moving for a better life, but then again it has cost us thousands and I am not going to abe a burden on Australia unlike many immigrants in the Uk, it was the leftest labour government that is to blame for letting in more immigrants than the country can handle.
No one likes to be a stranger in their own land, unless you are a open all borders type of left swinger.
Although I do agree that all politicians are the same kind of liars, lining their own pockets at the expense of the British working class, I definitely do not think that the sudden over population of England by immigrants was a good thing. If you think the immigrants are such a good idea for the UK why have you moved to Australia and not stayed at home in the multicultural bliss which you leftist created.

I've moved this out of the Meet-ups forum as its become a general discussion.

To the OP - you'll have more success meeting up and making friends with most of the rest of us if you forget the politics from home and just accept people as they are :) There's a meet in Brisbane on New Years Day - theres a thread on it in the Meet Up forum - lots of Brits there from all backgrounds and always a good laugh :)

Does excluding a large proportion of the British population from those you want to meet normally work out for you?

Signed Bingobob (looking for a non sponger off the UK taxpayer to talk to, someone who understands public sector pensions aren't affordable and that doesn't feel he's entitled to strike for benefits that the vast majority of Britsh taxpayers don't get, no social outreach co-ordinators in particular).
