The article says....
"He now believes passive smoking may have contributed to his illness after spending the past 23 years in the company of smokers keen to learn his method of quitting."
So it had nothing to do with....
"Carr, 73, a former smoker, gave up the habit when he was 50 after smoking more than 100 a day for 33 years."
I reckon the latter may have had a wee tad to do with it as well??

Atkins slipped on ice and banged his head but I guess the story be told and retold that he had a heart attack, same way as Diana was murdered by paparazzi.

I also attribute giving up smoking to him.

Yes, I stopped smoking years ago after reading his book.
What a shame. He literally sacrificed his life for others.

Ermmmmm.......did he not smoke like 70 a day for 50 years? I'm surprised that he lasted so long.
I am pleased that he was able to assist so many people in quitting smoking.

I suppose it depends on what kind of lung cancer he's got. The article doesn't say although he does say that he believes passive smoking probably helped his demise. He's still given up his life to help a million other people. If he'd never smoked, would he have written the book? I doubt it.
