another out goings question for Perth
 

Hi all
i have put a list down here with monthly out goings can you confirm if this is correct or if i have missed anything.
The reason i ask is trying to squeeze everything down to see if we can afford to move as i wont be working on arrival only the Mrs will be.
Oh sorry we are moving to Tapping Perth.


Monthly outgoings Hope you can help

1) Food $800

2) Petrol $ 320 for 2 cars

3) Gas/ elec $150

4) Car Insurance $ 100 for 2 cars

5) Home insurance $50

6) Mobiles $60 for 2 phones

7) Internet $80

8) Phone land line $40

9) Nursery $768 ($64 per day which is 3 days per week)

10) Breakfast club and After school care $396 ( $33 per day which is 3 days per week

11) Rent $1800 ($450 per week)

12) Schooling =



have i missed anything please help this is the my final push at moving fingers crossed.

Seems about right but your food bill is a bit low if its including fast food / eating out,etc . Ours would be $990/month ($33 a day )

Your internet seems a bit high - maybe $40-$50/month.

If you are going on PR then your nursery would be a lot cheaper unless you have very large income as you would get CCR and CCB. Might also get FBT A and FTB B. I think maybe even before and after school care is covered by CCB?

I would allow some for dentistry and other medical.

I agree, food is a little low. As a family of 4 just on food I spend $300 a week before eating out.

I spend a tad more on gas and electric, probably closer to $200 average per month.

Schooling. School contributions vary from school to school. Ours are $45 per child per year. In addition there are school supplies to pay for, usually around $250 per year in total for both of my children who are still at primary school.

You may also have water to pay for, few hundred dollars a year for that.

You have also forgotten car rego. We have just renewed ours. For 12 months on our Prado was $590.

You will also have additional costs if you take out Private Health Insurance.

Tough call, depends on the state of your teeth. I find my dentist charges close to the "NobleDentist Fee" column on this chart: http://www.nobledentist.com.au/denti...t.php#Brisbane

You can get "extra's" only private insurance plans that cover dental, glasses, physio etc: eg. http://www.nib.com.au/Home/newtonib/...ustextras.aspx

How much you spend on general medical is up to you. If you go to a free GP, request a public hospital specialist etc it will all be free. If you go to a GP that charges a gap (gap example: $30) and then get referred to a private specialist (gap example: $80 first visit, $40 after) then you will pay more. I think using private services here is more common than in the UK.

My car thinks the BWS in Wanneroo is its garage haha...........:thumbsup:

Depending on how hot it is, you will be on a carton or two a week (or is that just me??)

At $40 a go, it soon mounts up.

You have also forgot the your golf, football, kids sports, socialising etc.......

Could easy add another couple of hundred dollars to your monthly outgoings mate.

If only one of you are working then you won't need to pay for childcare/nursery etc Petrol costs are probably a bit high for only one of you working - I put $40 p/w into my car and I do an 85k round trip 5 days p/w

Here's some of our costs...we're SOR...

1) Food: anywhere between $800 to $1000 a month, family of 4. I know I've definitely never spent $300 a week on food. And we hardly eat out. And no, we don't live on lentils but I bake a lot (whole grain crackers and muffins for constantly snacking kids) and we don't buy a lot of packaged/processed stuff. And we do buy a lot of fruit and veg from the smaller markets.

2) Petrol: $160 a month, one car, a Holden Viva. Explains why. Husband has a company vehicle for work.

3) Gas: ~$110 a month. Electric: ~$70 a month.

4) Car rego: $36.90 ($442.85 per year). Car insurance $39.28 ($471.45 per year).

5) Home insurance $25.97 (contents insurance $311.74 per year)

6) Mobiles...husband has a work mobile. I'm currently borrowing my sister-in-law's pay as you go one...$29 a month. Need to buy our own soon...

7) Internet $49.95 a month.

8) Phone $29.95 a month plus charges for calls...anywhere from an extra $15 to $40 a month.

9) and 10) I'm at home with the kids, so can't help you there, sorry.

11) For us, a 3 bedroom in a newer neighborhood SOR $400 per week, so $1600 per month.

12) Schooling...my daughter's just been enrolled in the local state primary school. Her fees paid so far for PP this Feb were $197.65 (fees and school supplies). That's not including uniform costs and extras. I'm not sure if there will be extra fees in the other terms etc.

13) Foxtel (obviously not a necessity but I'll put it in anyway): $72 a month, no frills, no HD or anything.

14) Water use: we haven't got our first bill yet, still waiting, but budget for that as well. I think it's about $25-$30 a month (?).

15) Private health insurance: we're still looking, but budget approx. $150 to $200 a month for a family of 4.

16) Add in...savings, clothing and shoes (kids), gifts (Christmas and birthdays), repairs (we had a flat tyre over Christmas)...oh and we have two life insurance policies and a loan payment back in Canada that we still keep up.


What else...alcohol...we don't drink unless for special occasions (and no, it's not a special occasion here every night), so I didn't include it but it is quite expensive. Outings...other threads talk about parks, beaches etc. and that's what we do. Our children are quite young, so we're not dining out, going to movies etc.

Yes, check into the Family Tax Benefit A and B. We recently put in our claim and we're surprised at what we were eligible for. It helps us (being on one income) and they made it retroactive to the day we arrived here permanently (4 months ago).

We have just had another installment of our shire rates:eek: We have water rates and water consumption as well.

Its bottomless pockets for us at the moment.:huh:
